happy father's day!!!

So, we celebrated Justin's 1st Father's Day yesterday. I had such great plans...breakfast at a highly recommended restaurant, time walking around Edmonds, ferry ride to Poulsbo, and a day of shopping and pictures. Well, all of that changed due in part to the weather and a very busy restaurant.

When we arrived at the Pancake Haus we were a bit surprised that the restaurant was FULL and had an hour long wait, so we were on to option B...find another breakfast spot. Since it was raining (I hate Seattle for this reason - it isn't suppose to be raining in June), we passed on walking through Edmonds and decided to catch the ferry over to the Kitsap peninsula.

We didn't have to wait long before getting on the ferry and it was a quick ride over. When we got there, we drove straight over to Poulsbo, found a kitchy little breakfast place and had some incredible french toast. Again, due to the weather, we didn't spend too much time walking around. It was chilly, wet, and we didn't want Lauren to catch cold.

So, we were on our way to drive through Port Gamble. This was my first trip there. It was interesting in that they were having a Civil War Reenactment in lieu of their Sunday Market. I think I would have preferred the Sunday Market. It was quite and experience though to see how many people actually came out dressed in costume to participate. I would have never guessed.

Then came the wait. We had to wait an hour and a half to get back on the ferry to head home. At least Lauren took a nap. She needed it by this time. She slept for the majority of the wait, but not all. We got some cute pictures of her being daddy's "co-pilot" while we waited (see below).

We finished the night off at my sister and brother-in-law's house. Kristin made a great stew and homemade rolls. It was delicious.
